Basics
Ward Frontal Watershed Channel Restoration: Completes essential projects for this USFS Priority Watershed under the Watershed Condition Framework. This project involves a partnership with the California Tahoe Conservancy to restore a reach of the creek that crosses ownership boundaries. Install large wood along 3,000 feet of Ward Creek, to enhance aquatic habitat and channel stability. Restore approximately 2,000 feet of Ward Creek through floodplain grading and new channel construction. A feasibility study to determine the preferred restoration approach started in 2023 and will be completed in 2024.
