01/29/2016 4:52 PM | Genevieve Villemaire | Project work at the William Kent Campground facilities provided an opportunity to remove a substantial amount of impervious coverage associated with campsites and a road from sensitive stream environment zones. The major retrofit of this facility (which includes an administrative site and day use area) also allowed the Forest Service to consider a future location for a USFS fire station to provide wildland fire protection for the west shore of Lake Tahoe. While the fire station itself was outside of the scope of the approved SNPLMA funded project, considering how it would be incorporated into the site was a critical part of project development. Following refinement of a project proposed action, project environmental analysis and documentation was completed under an Environmental Assessment. The project involves removal of culverts and impervious coverage from stream environment zone (SEZ), relocation of campsites displaced by this removal, restoration of SEZ areas, construction of new road segments to support the improved facility configuration, and removal of a storm drain pipe within the day use portion of the facility. Design and contract preparation was completed during 2013 and implementation took place starting in 2014. |

08/04/2015 4:03 PM | Jeanne McNamara | In 2014 project is not fully completed but the SEZ restoration has been completed so it was counted in the overall SEZ restoration accomplishments for 2014. Do not report it again once the project has been fully completed. |
