The new Kingsbury Stinger Trail is a perfect example of how community connections, recreational needs, and environmental improvements can be addressed with strong agency partnerships. The project consists of a new 5.3-mile multiuse trail open to mountain bikers, hikers, equestrians, motor cycles and ATVs. The new trail replaces an old fall-line oriented trail with deep ruts caused by major erosion problems. The trail intersects with the Tahoe Rim Trail at the top (7,960 ft) via Andria Drive. The new trail quickly became hugely popular with user counts increasing 20-times over the same time the year before. The old trail was barely used and has since been decommissioned and restored.
