Implement hazardous fuel reduction and forest ecosystem health treatments on approximately 3,286 acres for the north shore area of the Lake Tahoe Basin. These fuel reduction treatments cover the National Forest areas in the Carnelian Bay area of the Lake Tahoe Basin and focus on the Urban Wildland Interface.

01/11/2024 11:08 AM Brian Garrett The final 274 acres of mechanical thinning was completed in 2023, completing this project. No additional forest restoration will occur, this project is complete. Any remaining slash piles will be burned and tracked under the LTBMU RX Fire EIP project.
01/11/2023 1:14 PM Brian Garrett The Watson contract was extended for 1 year to allow for other priority work in the Tahoe Basin to get implemented in 2022, the remaining 274 acres under contract will be completed during the 2023 field season. This is the last contract and project work to be implemented under the Carnelian project.
01/17/2022 6:12 PM Brian Garrett No work was completed on the project. The Watson contract will be complete in FY22 field season. This project is expected to be completed at the end of 2022.
12/28/2020 11:20 AM Brian Garrett Previous note has error, final contract award was in 2019.
12/28/2020 11:19 AM Brian Garrett No new acres accomplished in 2020, final contract award was made in 2021. The Fiberboard contract was completed in 2020 and the Watson contract was worked on. The final work on the project is contract administration of the Watson contract, which expires at the end of 2022. Funding expenditures on the project were for project management and contract oversite.

01/07/2018 9:58 PM Brian Garrett Project layout work was also completed in FY17. Additional acres are expected to be contracted in FY18.
12/27/2016 10:26 AM Brian Garrett This project includes multiple grant awards through the SNPLMA program for implementation of fuels reduction treatments on the Carnelian Hazardous Fuels Reduction and Healthy Forest Restoration project. This includes a percentage of the funding received in the Round 16 award, Complete NEPA Ready Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) Projects. In 2016, no new acres were accomplished, however acres from contracts awarded in previous years were completed. Additionally, field layout and contract preparation work for new contracts was completed in 2016, these are expected to be awarded in 2017.
