• Planning for Forest Service system roads that impact surface drainage in the Angora Fire area:
Field work, data collection, design, and contract preparation were completed in 2010. Extensive field reconnaissance was completed to ensure that future system roads would be located in the most capable lands possible. Design was completed to include proper BMP upgrades, and realignments and obliteration of segments of non-system roads were located on the ground. Permitting was also an extensive portion of the planning process. Permits were obtained from the Lahontan Water Quality Control Board and the Army Corps of Engineers.

• Implementation of BMP upgrades, realignments, and obliteration of segments of non-system roads:The majority of the implementation of the road project work was completed through a construction contract. The contractor completed the work in the field seasons of 2011 and 2012. Included in this work was construction of a hardened ford crossing (see photo below), as well as with realignments of system roads to administer Forest Service lands. Additional time was taken to inform the public of operations through signage and field walks.

• Obliterate approximately ½ miles of non-system roads near Seneca Pond and west of Boulder Mountain Drive: In the same contract, obliteration of over a mile of non-system roads was completed near Seneca Pond and north of Boulder Mountain Drive. Because the roads just west of Boulder Mountain Drive were naturally restoring, roads just north of Boulder Mountain Drive were identified for non-system road obliteration. These non-system roads were decompacted, reshaped, and allowed to naturally revegetate. Included in this work was removal of a 6 foot squash culvert and restoration of the channel crossing.
