Overview

Basics

Basics
This is the annual cost to operate and maintain bicycle and pedestrian facilities under the City of South Lake Tahoe's jurisdiction. Operation and maintenance activities vary by jurisdiction but could include sweeping, pavement maintenance, costs to maintain and run lighting, trash pick-up, etc. If these costs are tracked as part of other maintenance, such as roadway maintenance, implementers should record $0 for this project and make a notation in the notes field of this project and the notes field of the larger maintenance project, providing as much detail as possible about expenditures related to bike and pedestrian facilities operations and maintenance. Estimates are fine.

Notes

Notes
02/17/2023 2:54 PM Judy Weber Trail snow removal is absorbed within the Parks Division operations budget.
01/14/2022 9:03 AM Jim Marino Increased operational costs for maintaining bike paths in winter leave this program underfunded. City will be working with the JPA Bicycle Advisory Committee and other public stakeholders to begin prioritizing routes that require snow removal and eliminate routes that do not generate enough use to support the operation.

Additionally, city will seek to increase fund appropriation.

Note: As the City's asset management program builds data these costs will become more defined.
02/04/2016 9:02 AM Jim Marino 2-04-16 - J.M. - The 27,000 annual O&M cost is derived from two sources; Measure S funding, ($16,700) and funds set aside for pilot snow removal program ($10,300).
Note: many existing trails are not covered within the Measure S funding. Currently those trails are being maintained through streets funds. The City should have a better grasp of costs upon realization of City's new work order tracking program in which trails can be separated from roadway. We will update this information when it becomes avalaible
