Overview

Basics

Basics
This project included forest thinning with hand crews and prescribed fire to reduce hazardous fuels and enhance residual tree species health. This project was designed to reduce tree densities in order to modify fire behavior to reduce the potential for a catastrophic, stand replacement fire. Forest thinning by hand crews reduced ladder fuels, overcrowded/diseased trees and enhance forest health. Thinned trees and dead and downed woody debris were piled throughout the spring, summer and fall months and burned in the fall/winter.

Notes

Notes
01/12/2018 3:31 PM Dan Shaw This project included pile burning and chipping of recently thinned acreage. We did not report the chipping or pile burning acreage separately from the hand crew acreage to avoid "double reporting" the same acreage. Question of double reporting should be reviewed and clarified.
