Overview

Basics

Basics
This project offers transit priority through signal queue jump, preemption, or other signal priority technology. This makes transit more reliable and efficient promoting increased transit ridership and reduced reliance on the private automobile. Increased transit use will reduce vehicle miles traveled and GHG emissions, thus improving air quality and water clarity. This project is identified in the Tahoe Basin ITS Strategic Plan as TR-03.

Threshold Categories

  • This project enhances multimodal transportation, a key element to the region’s overall vitality, by offering an alternative to traveling by car. Enhancements to active modes & public transit are key to fulfilling this priority goal. A set of ITS strategies has been identified that increase the ease with which transit services in the Tahoe Basin can be provided and used, and thereby improve mobility & reduce the need for use of private vehicles. This project does that.

01/16/2020 9:20 AM Judy Weber Approved as updated. We will continue to work with Caltrans to prioritize project for future implementation.
01/07/2020 2:05 PM Joan Davis Caltrans currently does not have any TSM/ITS projects in the Tahoe Basin within the next 10 years (2019-2029). Our recommendation is to change the Stage from Planning/Design to Deferred. Leaving project in the Tracker for RTP purposes.
