Basics

Basics
This project includes on-going Capital, Operations and Maintenance activities at the Lake Airport. This program is funded by the Airport Enterprise Fund operations budget and through grants from the Federal Aviation Administration and the State of California. These include forest fuel reduction and fire resilience in areas surrounding the airport, and habitat modification to reduce the likelihood of wildlife/aircraft collisions. All efforts are supported for regulatory compliance through a contract Registered Professional Forester and a contract Wildlife Biologist. Project completed on November 19, 2021.

Burn piles awaiting 2 year cure period when CCC will secure a new contract from the City to burn woody materials. No trees were cut within the SEZ areas of airport property. These trees were left for another future contractor who can remove cut trees out of the SEZ.
11/04/2020 1:50 PM Mark Gibbs In 2020 the airport contracted with CCC to perform 79.11 acres of airspace obstruction prevention and hazardous fuel reduction on airport property. Due to an unprecedented California fire season the CCC was unable to deploy crews during the contract year; only accomplishing 2 acres of the 79.11 acres of treatment. The City hopes that the work can continue over the winter, spring and into next summer; resource permitting.
