08/02/2017 2:06 PM | System | The new Tallac Creek Bridge is an approximately 40 foot long by 20 foot wide concrete bridge. Roughly 200 feet of the Tallac Creek channel in the vicinity of the new bridge is now rehabilitated to a more natural condition. The channel rehabilitation included reshaping the channel, installing riprap grade control structures, and constructing a floodplain. The bridge replaces an undersized culvert that restricted flow; trapped rock and debris; inhibited aquatic species passage; and caused flooding and erosion during high water events. The new Tallac Creek Bridge is designed to pass a 100-year flood event with one foot of freeboard. The new natural channel bottom will allow the passage of aquatic organisms. Bridge and channel construction was completed during late summer and fall of 2009. The new bridge was well received by the residents of the Spring Creek Tract. Permanent and temporary Best Management Practices were also installed during this project. |
