Overview

Basics

Basics
A multidisciplinary assessment of the relationship of nearshore water quality from the terrestrial to the deep lake environments, and the effectiveness of management strategies to achieve nearshore water quality goals. Program elements may include: 1) Exploration of fish population dynamics, including drivers of native fish population decline 2) Remote sensing to monitor nearshore components (eg: algae, AIS, clarity) 3) Investigate the link between Asian clams and metaphtyon, and management response through removal projects 4) Evaluation of methods to prevent/control the spread of AIS. 5) Water quality monitoring associated with boating 6) Nutrient source analysis

Notes

Notes
11/07/2023 3:42 PM Robert Larsen The Lahontan Water Board has funded a summary of existing work, coupled with a prioritization of future nearshore research and monitoring needs. Those findings will help guide investment in this unfunded space.
12/28/2022 2:44 PM Robert Larsen Some nearshore priorities may be funded by SNPLMA, but project decisions are still uncertain. The nearshore data collection and system understanding projects remain a large unfunded science need.
12/15/2021 11:11 AM Robert Larsen The Tahoe Science Advisory Council will consider nearshore monitoring priorities in 2022 and hopes to secure implementation funding through CNRA and/or federal sources.
01/09/2020 11:48 AM Beth Vollmer Implementation year is unknown and dependent on funding.
