Overview

Basics

Basics
The project includes a stormwater treatment basin on California Tahoe Conservancy lands at the intersection of 2nd Street and Helen Avenue and associated overflow conveyances, sediment traps, drain inlets, curb & gutter road shoulder protection, and rock bowls for outlet protection in areas of the neighborhood with inadequate drainage or treatment. The improvements will address significant localized flooding in the the neighborhood. This drainage catchment flows to the Upper Truckee River Johnson Meadow Restoration Project site (EIP project 01.02.01.0070), which was recently acquired by the Tahoe Resource Conservation District.

Notes
01/03/2024 11:55 AM Stan Hill Construction of the project improvements began in June 2023 and were completed on October 31, 2023. Improvements include a stormwater collection, conveyance, and treatment system. A Water Quality Treatment basin was constructed on California Tahoe Conservancy property located on the easterly side of 2nd Avenue, between Barton and Helen Avenues. Following treatment (settling of fine sediment particles), stormwater exits the WQ treatment basin and is routed to the easterly end of Silver Tip Avenue and discharges into a linear infiltration ditch designed to evenly redistribute stormwater into Johnson Meadows.
12/15/2022 11:00 AM Stan Hill A CNRA grant in the sum of $1,289,822 was executed between the State and the City. In early December 2021, the City retained the services of Lumos & Associates to acquire ground topographic information for Project design. In August of 2022 the City retained the services of SNG & Associates to produce PS&E bid documents. The 100% PS&E bid documents are on schedule to be completed in time to bid and award the Project in time for a May 1, 2023 construction start. Project completion is scheduled to occur in October 2023.
12/02/2021 9:30 AM Stan Hill The City was advised by the California Natural Resources Agency (CNRA) of a $1,289,822 grant award. The City and CNRA are now working on completing the Project Scope of Work and Budget Schedule to allow the execution of the grant agreement. The City is poised to start site surveying during December 2021 to allow detailed design of the Project improvements necessary to develop PS&E bid documents during the winter and spring of 2022.
01/21/2020 5:18 PM Jason Burke This project would address significant localized flooding issues in the neighborhood, which impact road shoulders, sediment source control and City TMDL road operations. This project would provide treatment for urban runoff that discharges to the Upper Truckee River - Johnson Meadow (EIP project 01.02.01.0030), which was recently acquired by the Tahoe Resource Conservation District.
