Overview

Basics

Basics
The Tahoe Keys Property Owners Association (TKPOA) implemented an integrated approach to preventing invasive aquatic plant fragments from spreading into Lake Tahoe. In addition to standard skimming and collecting efforts, TKPOA is experimenting with a boat back-up station, a bubble curtain and "seabins" to prevent this spread. The back-up station allows for boats to remove plants from the boat prior to entering Lake Tahoe proper, the bubble curtain provides a barrier that helps stop fragments from exiting the Keys water ways, along with the seabins that act as a floating collector, collecting fragments stopped by the bubble curtain. This pilot project is in the west channel.
