Overview

Basics

Basics
The Tahoe Keys Property Owners Association (TKPOA) implemented a pilot project using Laminar Flow Aeration (LFA) in a six acre area, west of the main lagoon of the homeowner channel. TKPOA investigated LFA's potential to reduce plant growth and/or densities by the increased levels of oxygen LFA creates. The project was implemented in the spring of 2019 and is now part of the Tahoe Keys Aquatic Weeds Control Methods Test (CMT)- comparing effectiveness of multiple methods to address invasive aquatic weeds in the Keys. Performance of LFA will now be tracked as part of the CMT project.

07/14/2023 11:39 AM Dennis Zabaglo Performance of LFA is now being tracked in the Tahoe Keys CMT project. The 6 acres treated in 2022 was accounted for in the performance measures for that project.
02/02/2022 10:17 PM Dennis Zabaglo The LFA system continued to be operational for the entirety of the 2021 season except for 3 days due to maintenance. Varied results are still being observed with decreases in substrate sediments near the diffusers, and increases in plant biovolume near the edges of the channels.
01/22/2021 9:41 AM Dennis Zabaglo TKPOA continued to run the LFA system and expereinced that near the edges of the channels/waterway where the system is located appears to have increases in plant growth. TKPOA intends to modify the system slighty to compare results from the modification.

TKPOA also added eight new difusers near the west channel, on both sides of the existing bubble curtain to test affects considering the weed removal work that occured in the Keys Complex, lakeward of the bubble curtain.
