Basics

Basics
The Burton Forest Restoration project will treat 132 acres of forest on Burton Creek State Park. Located in the wildland urban interface and the State Responsibility Area Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone, this work builds on existing and planned treatments creating a contiguous area of reduced fuel loading, protecting multiple at risk communities. Work will strive to enhance ecosystem resilience against catastrophic wildfire, pest invasions, and climate change by, reducing forest fuels and stem densities and increasing heterogeneity and habitat diversity. Work will include hand crew thinning and pile burning on 25 acres and prescribed understory burning on 107 acres.
