Basics
The Tunnel Creek Alternative Trail is a Nevada Division of State Parks project, with partners such as Nevada Division of State Lands, Tahoe Fund, Great Basin Institute, and TAMBA. This 2.28-mile single-track trail starts at Tunnel Creek canyon's base, linking indirectly to the Tahoe East Shore Trail and the Incline Flume Trail. It addresses public safety issues on the congested, sandy, and steep Tunnel Creek road, responsible for many bike accidents every year. The trail will be built in two phases, expected to be completed by fall 2025.
