Overview

Basics

Basics
This project proposes to remove hazardous debris from the dilapidated Celio Barn site in Washoe Meadows State Park and restore the natural hydrology and native meadow vegetation. Over the last decade, the barn has collapsed and scattered debris over a 925 square foot area. The barn site will be decompacted to allow native vegetation to grow and surface water to percolate. The STPUD service road has been improved to add water diversion features that will convey water towards the restored meadow site. In 2023, the California Conservation Corps spent 2 weeks removing dense pine growth to further encourage surface water, promote meadow habitat, and improve wildfire resilience.
