Overview

Basics

Basics
The Tahoe Main water system in Kings Beach, CA is comprised of watermains ranging from 1- to 8- inches in diameter. The system is deficient in fire flows and in the number and spacing of fire hydrants and does not meet current fire codes on several streets in the grid. The project would install 2,700 linear feet of new 8-inch watermain on Trout Street to replace the existing 1- and 2-inch diameter steel watermain that serves the properties. Six new fire hydrants would be installed that would be accessible from the public right of way. Project improves water supply enhancing fire protection capabilities on private, local, state, and federal lands by increasing fire flow volumes and coverage.

Threshold Categories

  • The project will install 2,700 feet of 8-inch watermains, improve system looping and add 6 new fire hydrants along Trout Street to comply with the California Fire Code. Water modeling of the proposed improvements calculate greater than 4,000 gpm of available fire flow after project completion.
