Notes
01/14/2024 9:18 AM Brian Garrett The Forest Service advertised a 442 acre mechanical hazard tree removal contract in 2023. Bids received were 3x higher than anticipated, attempts to negotiate and reduce the scope of the project were not successful and the contract was cancelled. The Forest Service is repackaging the contract, seeking additional funding and anticipates awarding the contract in 2024. Additionally, the Forest Service is working with the National Forest Foundation and CTC (for funding) to award 509 acres of hand thin contract work in 2024. Field prep for the hand thin contract was completed in 2023.
01/13/2023 10:58 AM Brian Garrett NEPA planning was completed in 2022 for the Tahoe Basin Caldor Hazard Tree Fuels Reduction Project, authorizing 1240 acres of hazard tree and fuels reduction treatments. Forest Service and GBI partner crews conducted field preparations for a 442 acre mechanical hazard tree contract, planned to be awarded and implemented in 2023. Funding from CTC was provided to fund contract work.
