Overview

Basics

Basics
Replacement of 2300 linear feet of 6-inch water main with new 8-inch water main and increase quantities of fire hydrants to meet 2018 IFC code requirements. This project is a continuation of the multi-year program to replace 1960's era thin wall steel water mains and other deficient water mains. We also work closely with the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District to determine areas of low fire flow, which may indicate a need for increased capacity in that area. Project improves water supply enhancing fire protection capabilities on private, local, state, and federal lands by increasing fire flow volumes and coverage area.

04/19/2022 3:41 PM HUDSON KLEIN Describe how this project has a regional benefit (i.e., bringing hydrants to an area that currently does not have hydrants; provides an intertie between one or more water systems, etc.) The project provides increased resilience and durability to the aging water main infrastructure and eliminates a known area of leakage and severely deteriorated and deficient steel water mains. The project will increase available fire flow volumes and coverage area along the pipeline replacement length and provide adequate FH numbers per code requirements
