Overview

Basics

Basics
The Tahoe Main water system in Kings Beach, CA is deficient in fire flows and in the number and spacing of fire hydrants and does not meet current fire codes on several streets in the grid. This project installed 7,700 linear feet of new 8-inch watermain in Golden Ave., Rainbow Ave., and upper Secline Street to replace the existing 1- and 2-inch diameter steel watermain that served the properties. Twelve new fire hydrants have been installed that are accessible from the public right of way. The project improved water supply enhancing fire protection capabilities on private, local, state, and federal lands by increasing fire flow volumes and coverage.

Threshold Categories

  • The project will install 7,700 feet of 8-inch watermains, improve system looping and add 12 new fire hydrants along Golden and Rainbow Avenues to comply with the California Fire Code. Water modeling of the proposed improvements calculate greater than 4,000 gpm of available fire flow after project completion.
