Overview

Basics

Basics
The Cattlemans and Black Bart Basins were constructed as part of the Pioneer Trail III Erosion Control Project in 2001. The improvements included corrugated steel pipe outlet structures with atrium racks near the edge of the basin side slopes. Since construction the basins have become wet basins with the outlet structures now under water most of the year. The project will be focused on retrofit of the outlet pipes to so as discharge runoff above the existing basin surface water elevations allowing for proper inspections and maintenance related to runoff and sediment transport.

Threshold Categories

  • The existing improvements are at the primary discharge points for runoff from portions of the Montgomery Estates subdivisions and Pioneer Trail roadway. The basins are a critical connection break between urban runoff and Trout Creek. The retrofit of the outlet structures is needed to allow for better inspection and maintenance of the existing facilities to continue mitigating water quality impacts from development in the area.

01/22/2024 2:55 PM Dan Kikkert The County is coordinating with the California Tahoe Conservancy on a possible Wildlife Passage Project for both Cold Creek and Trout Creek. If the Conservancy is successful in receiving funding and moving their project forward, we may look to complete this project work as part of their larger project.
