WEPD staff will review the state of existing science and theory on AIS in Lake Tahoe and attend conferences and meetings focusing on AIS. WEPD staff will become familiar with identification and natural history of AIS in Lake Tahoe in an effort to assist or control AIS. Seasonal field crews will assist in monitoring streams of cultural importance for AIS and sample water quality where AIS may be present. WEPD will coordinate AIS efforts with other agencies in the Lake Tahoe watershed to increase knowledge of AIS and control of AIS in streams of cultural importance.

  • WEPD AND Meeks Bay Resort staff maintain mobile AIS cleaning station provided by TRPA located at Meeks Bay Resort. Coordinate and train with TRPA vector control staff. Provide signage and resort staff training. Coordinate "Eyes on the Lake" outreach. Participate in meetings, as well as do site visits and review existing AIS priorities. Participate in webinars, train in scuba diving certification and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point Plans plus other AIS training.
