The Washoe Tribe of Nevada & California has received a grant through the California Tahoe Conservancy so the Tribe can build the capacity of our Tribal program in staying engaged with environmental partners in basin, obtain the training and guidance necessary to carry out cultural burns on Tribal land, as well as non-tribal where approved. Another portion of the grant is to increase the capacity and production of our cultural greenhouse where we are planting pinyon pine, sage brush, and other culturally significant plants to the Washoe Tribe. The plants will be used for meadow, and forest restoration on the Tribe's aboriginal lands.
