Relocate a section of the South Lake Tahoe Bikeway out of the Upper Truckee Marsh and into the adjacent uplands in the vicinity of Link Road and create a direct connection to Sussex Avenue. This project will allow for significant SEZ and Wetland restoration and formalize a heavily trafficked native surface route that is much more direct. The existing alignment was intended to be temporary until acquisitions were completed.

Project area is a former auto dismantling and taxi cab yard within the Upper Truckee Marsh. Restoration would improve scenic vistas which would be viewed from the relocated trail in the adjacent uplands.

Removing the trail and fill behind it from the Upper Truckee Marsh would allow for SEZ and Wetland plant reestablishment.

The project will restore a portion of the Upper Truckee Marsh margin near Highway 50, creating new areas to treat highway and commercial stormwater runoff.

Standing water in adjacent areas is frequently used by wildlife. Expanding this habitat and removing the trail, fill, and human activity impacting it would improve local conditions for wildlife.
