Overview

Basics

Basics
Comprehensive Upper Truckee River Restoration Monitoring Program to provide river-wide monitoring information for the watershed and all nine+ Upper Truckee River projects. Fish surveys, BMI sampling, geomorphic and vegetation surveys, sediment studies, and greenhouse gas sequestration research conducted on a watershed scale to provide important preliminary and post project information that can be utilized to analyze the projects benefits at a watershed scale. Monitoring surveys done around 2011 will be repeated.

Implementation

Reported Performance Measures

Reported Performance Measures

No annual performance measure accomplishments entered for this project.

No accomplishments to report for:
Year(s) 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025
Explanation The project is a coordinated monitoring effort and does not involve direct improvements to the land. The initial monitoring informed several large scale restoration projects which report their respective accomplishments as they are constructed. Subsequent monitoring provides information about the ongoing condition of completed projects and watershed health.

Notes
12/18/2025 9:30 AM Mark Sedlock Expenditures in 2025 are for greenhouse gas research by the University of Nevada Reno exploring "Carbon stocks and persistence following meadow restoration in Tahoe watersheds." Lake Tahoe Basin agencies have partnered over the last several decades to
restore mountain meadows and wetlands. Functional meadows and wetlands sequester above and below ground carbon by supporting vibrant vegetation. This study investigates the sequestration and persistence of soil carbon in stable forms in restored mountain meadows and wetlands over time. This research continues into 2027.
