Overview

Basics

Basics
The Dennis T. Machida Memorial Greenway envisions paved trail connections from Sierra Boulevard to Van Sickle Bi-State Park, creating the second leg of the non-motorized transportation network in South Shore. Project approval occurred in 2011 and the 3.86 mile trail, including neighborhood connectors, is being constructed in phases. Phases 1a, 1b, and 2 are complete, and Phase 1c planning was recently initiated, with details reported under separate EIP projects. Phase 3 implementation is postponed. The Upper Truckee Bridge at Johnson Meadow project will extend the Greenway to the South Tahoe WYE. Future projects could extend the Greenway to Meyers.

Notes
01/20/2023 9:56 AM Stuart Roll This project captured shared planning costs for the entire Greenway trail. All costs and accomplishments for future Greenway trails will be reported in separate projects.
11/04/2022 9:59 AM Scott Cecchi The City is pursuing Phase 1c and the Bijou Bike Park connector. The City reports these as separate projects in the EIP tracker.
01/06/2021 3:19 PM Stuart Roll El Dorado County is reporting implementation expenditures for phases 1b and 2 for 2020. The Conservancy did not expend any funding for the Greenway outside of these phases 1b and 2 expenditures in 2020.
01/12/2018 3:27 PM Scott Cecchi 2017 expenditures = $49,210.38 in DGS expenditures (As of 1/9/2018 $132,941.77 expended out of $235,000 transferred. DGS expenditures as of December 2016 were $83,731.39. $132,941.77 - $83,731.39 = $49,210.38. Invoice for PPs and engineers estimate not received in 2017. Will be received and paid for in 2018 ($28,320).
02/09/2017 5:07 PM Penny Stewart Secured funding reflects Conservancy Board authorized planning funds for Phase 1b/2.
01/27/2016 1:28 PM Sue Rae Irelan Preliminary planning for the entire 3.86 mile Greenway project began in 2002. Costs associated with planning activities 2002-2007 are reported in 2007. The Greenway will be constructed in phases; each implementation phase with secured funding will be incorporated into the EIP as a separate project. By 2015, two implementation phase projects secured funding and both are now separate EIP projects. (See the Phase 1a and Phases 1b & 2 projects.) The Total Project Cost for the Greenway Planning and Future Phases project incorporates all planning costs expended to date and anticipated future planning and implementation costs for implementation phases that do not have secured funding. The Unfunded Project Cost reflects the anticipated funding need to complete the Greenway, including 2.49 miles of trail.
