The Eurasian watermilfoil and curly-leaf pondweed infestation at Lakeside Beach (swim area) is approximately 1 acre. These species have been removed using benthic barriers, diver-assisted suction removal, and hand-pulling. This project is being implemented in coordination with EIP Project Number 01.03.01.0030, Lakeside Beach & Marina Aquatic Invasive Plant Control UV Light Pilot II.

Threshold Categories

  • Removal of AIS will contribute to improved fish habitat within Lake Tahoe for native fish and reduce habitat for invasive fish which prey on native fish and disrupt the natural food chain.
  • This project will improve water quality by removing aquatic invasive plants, a known contributor to decreased lake clarity.
